Gill Wyatt

Gill was born in Leytonstone in East London, although she subsequently moved to Wolverhampton and then to Newport in South Wales.

Gill went to the Wolverhampton Municipal Grammar School until the family moved to Newport when she was fourteen. She then attended St Julian’s Comprehensive School. After leaving school, Gill went to Guy’s Hospital in London to train as a nurse, which had been the desire of her heart since she was eleven. In the course of nursing, she met many different characters from all walks of life.

She met and married Barrie and they have four grown-up children.

Gill first began writing when the children were little, as a form of catharsis, but only began to take it seriously when the hospital where she worked closed as part of NHS cutbacks. Three and a half years ago she began volunteering with County Community Projects (CCP) in Worcester, helping to run a drop-in centre for people with tenancy issues and Mental health problems. A year ago she took up the challenge from the manager to work as a Floating Support Worker for the charity.

The idea of Heartsease originated in 2007 on a beach in Cyprus and has developed over the years to include the work of other writers.
